Engineers Week 2013

Engineers Week is already well under way. Have you decided what you’re doing for the week yet?
There have already been reports of successful events in Dublin ( see photos of TOG’s bridge building event ) and Cork over the weekend, and we held a launch event in our building here in Dublin yesterday morning, in the presence of Newstalk’s Breakfast Show.
Have you planned the week ahead yet? It’s not too late to book in to attend an event (most of which are free ) or, if you’re a teacher, you could run a classroom-based event yourself with very little prep, and be in with a chance to win a prize for your school.
Here are just a few events taking place around the country this week that we’re excited about:
NUI Galway – Lots of events taking place here all week, with something for all ages. Watch a short video from NUIG about Engineers Week
Civil engineering lab demos at GMIT – suitable for second-level students
Sligo – quite a lot going on in and around Sligo, including a career evening at IT Sligo aimed at third-level students
Secrets, Lies & Mathematics – an interactive, fun maths show for second-level students, in our building here in Dublin on Thursday 28th. Booking up fast!
Family Fun Day at Engineers Ireland – a host of fun, interactive events happening in our building this Saturday, with something to suit all ages
There’s also a Family Fun Day in Galway and Cork
Engineers in the City – Take on the challenge of exploring Dublin city centre looking for engineering clues. Suitable for families and school groups.
Science Hack Day next weekend (2nd & 3rd March) – an all-day, all-night event that brings scientists, engineers, computer scientists and designers together to find solutions to real-life problems. Suitable for third-level students and engineers.
