PMI Regional Event in Association with Midas Ireland
Topic: Adopting Agile Project Management in the Semiconductor Industry
Venue: Limerick – venue ON Semiconductor
Date: 23 November 2016
Time: 13.00hrs
Speakers: Research and Industry Speakers TBC
Background:
This seminar will explore the semiconductor industry and its various approaches to managing projects. Agile project management has been successfully deployed in software development projects, where industry best practices have evolved and have been widely adopted, encouraging rapid and flexible response to change. Manufacturing design projects are increasingly looking to agile approaches to enable firms to respond quickly to customer needs and market changes while still controlling costs and quality. However, the semiconductor industry has been slow to transition away from traditional waterfall approaches, to prevent cost prohibitive late changes to design. Integrated circuit and embedded software design projects straddle both areas and may require some hybrid form of predictive and adaptive approaches. The presenters have a range of experience working and doing research in agile and together will outline the debate of adopting agile v non-agile traditional methods for managing projects in different settings.
For whom:
This seminar will be of interest to anyone thinking of adopting a more agile approach to managing projects. While the focus will be on the semiconductor industry, agile approaches are being deployed in many different contexts and settings. Project Managers, Engineers and Senior Executives who wish to learn more about adaptive and the challenges and benefits of transitioning away from more traditional project management approaches, should attend.
