At our annual Conference/Gala Dinner on Thursday 30th November, we recognised Professor Maurice Whelan, formerly of Trinity College Dublin and founder of the S3 Group, who received the inaugural MIDAS Ireland lifetime achievement award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Irish electronics industry. Professor Whelan has played a crucial role in establishing Ireland’s leadership position in electronics internationally and in particular for creating a source of talent which has enabled a flourishing indigenous and multinational electronics sector in Ireland.
Professor Whelan’s leadership and vision has helped to enable Ireland’s electronics based systems sector which today consists of 8,000 highly skilled professionals in Ireland who are part of a broader ICT sector.
