The second annual Microelectronics Week hosted by MIDAS is almost upon us. The list of activities for the week is outlined below representing a sample of the best of what is going on in our industry in Ireland today. A more detailed version of events for the week will be available in the coming days.

Monday 5th November
Official launch of week with Barry O’Leary, CEO, IDA
Tuesday 6th November
Launch of MIDAS Ireland competition for third sector engineering students
Wednesday 7th November
MIDAS Ireland and the School of Engineering Trinity College Dublin, is hosting a lecture entitled ‘Commercialising Your Idea’ as part of Microelectronics Week 2012. The lecture is focused on sharing knowledge about how to transform an idea into a reality and subsequently turn it into a profitable business.
The lecture will take place from 10am – 12pm with an hour set aside for Q&A in The Printing House Hall, Trinity College Dublin.
Speakers on the day will include:
• Peter Smyth Founder of Redmere & Province Five Networks
• George Young, founder of Commergy (acquired by Texas Instruments a couple of years ago) & Eisergy
• John O’Dea, Manager Industrial High Potential Start Ups, Enterprise Ireland
Thursday 8th November
MIDAS Ireland Annual Conference will take place from 8am – 1:30pm in The Aviva Stadium.
The conference entitled, ‘Microelectronics: Innovation all around us’, will see a series of panel speakers’ focus on the potential of the sector to evolve and grow in Ireland. In addition attendees will get to see first hand some of the innovations taking place in the sector in Ireland.
Friday 9th November
Regional activation of Microelectronics Week. Colleges and companies encouraged to highlight the sector as a good career choice by hosting talks and open days for students on that day.
